Anheuser-Busch, Dean Foods & Shaw’s Supermarkets Receive Awards at 2001 Consumer Goods Information Technology Conference

RANDOLPH, N.J., Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ — In a year when numerous companies
have held off implementing new technology initiatives due to a slowing
economy, many others have utilized information technology to spur growth and
improve profitability and productivity. At an awards dinner at the third
annual Consumer Goods Information Technology Conference (CGIT 2001), just
concluded in Orlando, Florida, three such companies were recognized for their
leadership and excellence. The awards evening was sponsored by i2
Technologies, a provider of a wide variety of collaborative e-business
services and a major sponsor of the CGIT 2001 Conference.

Technology Leadership Award 2001
The Technology Leadership Award went to Anheuser-Busch, Inc., of St.
Louis, MO, for its role in developing an assortment solution that enables
retailers and manufacturers to work together to create optimum product
assortments and shelf sets within a category management environment. The
Pro/sortment EIA(TM) (Efficient Item Assortment) software incorporates and
automates the best practice, six-step efficient item assortment process as
published by The Food Marketing Institute. Anheuser-Busch worked with JDA
Software Group to develop this software solution — the first
workflow-enabled, collaborative EIA solution that can be applied with the push
of a button. Anheuser-Busch is realizing dramatic productivity and
implementation cycle improvements as a result of this software, and its
retailer customers are experiencing improved shelf conditions, lower stock
outs and better overall product and category performance. Accepting the award
on behalf of Anheuser-Busch was Steve Zielonko, Senior Manager, Retail
Analysis.

Collaborative Consumer Goods Company of the Year Award 2001
Dean Foods Company (NYSE: DF), headquartered in Franklin Park, IL, was
named Collaborative Consumer Goods Company of the Year for its work in using
e-commerce to manage and strengthen customer relationships. Founded in 1925
as a small Midwestern dairy, Dean Foods has become a Fortune 500, broad-based

products, including dairy, specialty foods, and pickles. The company’s
diverse product offerings allow them to sell into every channel of food

Collaborative Trading Partner of the Year Award 2001
Shaw’s Supermarkets, based in East Bridgewater, MA, a wholly-owned
subsidiary of J. Sainsbury PLC, was presented with the Collaborative Trading
Partner of the Year Award for its leadership in implementing business-to-
business (B2B) collaborative commerce transactions across the Internet, on a
machine-by-machine basis, with its vendor suppliers. In particular, Shaw’s
has led the retail industry in implementing B2B data synchronization and
integration software, which synchronizes disparate databases of its consumer
goods suppliers and sales agents, and integrates them into Shaw’s own legacy
system. Shaw’s, which employs 29,000 people across New England, has been a
leader in implementing collaborative applications with its vendor suppliers
and in the resolution of major CPG industry problems by utilizing a web-based
kiosk, which provides webEDI (electronic data interchange) for non-EDI
suppliers. This eliminates paper-based purchase orders and invoices – and the
deductions that invariably result from discrepancies between what was ordered,
shipped and received. James Sheehan, Strategic Projects Leader for Shaw’s,
accepted the award.

represented at the Conference.

The highlight of the Conference was the Annual Awards Gala Evening, which
this year featured dinner speaker Retired Senator Alan Simpson of Wyoming who
shared his Western wit and wisdom, as well as timely perspective on the events
unfolding throughout the world as a result of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The
Gala Evening began with a cocktail reception, followed by dinner and the
awards ceremony, all sponsored by i2 Technologies. “The winners of these
