DALLAS–(BW HealthWire)–Feb. 14, 2001–February is Heart Month
and for those who still have not jumped on the soy bandwagon, timing
couldn’t be better.
To help you get in the swing, Morningstar Foods Inc. has launched
a new great-tasting flavor, Sun Soy(TM) Coffee Latte. Heart Month is a
great time to start enjoying soymilk since soy proteins, like those
contained in Sun Soy, have been said to help reduce the risk of heart
disease according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
“We are always looking for new ways to help consumers enjoy a
healthy diet and appeal to all tastes,” said Toby Purdy, senior vice
president of marketing of Morningstar Foods Inc. “Coffee flavors are
very popular with consumers right now and allow brands to attract a
wide range of consumers. Coffee Latte is a great-tasting addition to
the Sun Soy family.”
Sun Soy, which carries the American Heart Association
certification seal, was launched last year, just a few months after
the FDA’s statement about the benefits of soy protein as part of a
healthy diet. The FDA stated that consuming 25 grams of soy protein
daily, as part of a diet that is low in saturated fat and cholesterol,
can help reduce the risk of heart disease(1).
Sun Soy, which also is organic, low in fat and cholesterol free,
is refrigerated and available in three additional flavors — Creamy
Original, Vanilla and Chocolate — and comes in 32- and 64-ounce
cartons, each with a resealable Flavor Fresh Pour Spout(R).
Morningstar Foods Inc. is a subsidiary of Suiza Foods Corporation
(NYSE:SZA). Suiza Foods is a Dallas-based company with a leadership
position in the dairy industry. Its principal holdings are in fluid
dairy processing and refrigerated, shelf-stable and frozen dairy
products.
