Folgers(R) Jakada(R) Joins the Fabulous Four Legacy With Its Ready-To-Drink Coffee Four-Pack
DALLAS, May 6 /PRNewswire/ — As golfing season begins, “fore” now means
more than a ball on the loose. Golfers will soon be reaching for their
Folgers(R) Jakada(R) four-pack to feel refreshed between holes. Joining
famous foursomes like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, Folgers Jakada
introduces the new four-pack — an on-the-go taste quencher and handy multi-
pack for any situation. Consumers can feel refreshed with its ready-to-drink
coffee beverages available in a four-pack case.
Morningstar Foods, a subsidiary of Dallas-based Dean Foods Company
(NYSE: DF), markets and distributes the four-pack in the non-refrigerated
beverage aisle of food, drug, mass merchandise, club and convenience stores
nationwide. Folgers Jakada also is the first to offer a dairy-based product
in a plastic bottle, available in the non-refrigerated section with an
extended shelf life of 150 days.
“Whether it’s a foursome on the golf course or four co-workers gathered in
a meeting, consumers can grab the new Jakada four-pack and be refreshed. The
handy, easy-to-carry case makes it convenient for people to enjoy our
delicious Folgers Jakada coffee beverages in everyday settings,” said Toby

The ready-to-drink coffee category has encountered explosive growth —
25 percent in 2001 over 2000. The daily consumption of coffee is also
increasing among young adults 18-to-24 years old, who are discovering a taste
for sweeter, milkier tasting coffee products. Jakada, which comes in three
sweet, creamy flavors, is growing increasingly popular since its introduction
Folgers Jakada is available in 10.5 ounce, single-serve plastic bottles
and features re-sealable tops for easy on-the-go use. The single-serve
product is available nationwide in the refrigerated area of convenience and
grocery stores, and the new four-pack can be found in the non-refrigerated
Folgers Jakada is the first chilled coffee drink made from Mountain
Grown(R) Folgers coffee and low-fat milk. It is available in three refreshing
flavors including French Roast, Vanilla and Mocha. Folgers and Jakada are
trademarks of The Procter & Gamble Company, used under license.
The new Folgers Jakada four-pack is made possible by Morningstar Foods’
revolutionary technology, which extends the shelf life of dairy-based
beverages to 150 days and allows these products to be stored and shipped at
ambient temperatures. The technology utilizes a patented three-layer bottle,
in which the middle layer blocks out all light from the product, allowing the
product to maintain its original nutrient content and flavor. The new
technology is possible because pasteurization, homogenization, bottle blow-
molding and filling procedures are all conducted in a completely sterile
environment. This allows the products to earn the aseptic designation without
the need for additives or preservatives.
