LOUDON, N.H., Jul 23, 2002 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ — Ward Burton not only won
NASCAR’s New England 300, but continued a tradition in the winner’s circle with
a chocolate milk mustache by drinking HERSHEY’S Milk.
Morningstar Foods Inc. has an endorsement contract with NASCAR racing star Ward
Burton, waving the green flag to promote its line of HERSHEY’S Milk products
during the Winston Cup season.
“I am proud of my team and especially am proud to be drinking HERSHEY’S Milk in
the winner’s circle, showing kids that even adults love chocolate milk,” Burton
“Not only do we get to the winner’s circle, but we have a spokesperson like Ward
Burton showing America’s racing fans HERSHEY’S Milk,” said Toby Purdy, senior
vice president of marketing for Morningstar Foods.
Burton’s latest victory proved that patience endures as he strategically worked
his way through New England’s hazardous racing field and came out on top.
Beginning the race in the 31st spot, Burton steadily gained track position to
overtake Matt Kenseth for the lead with 10 laps to go. His lead held strong as
he crossed the finish line ahead of second place finisher Jeff Green by more
than three seconds. Burton’s successful run at the New England 300 marks his
fifth career victory.
